Princess Jellyfish's Higashimura Starts Bishoku Tantei Manga Series

posted on by Karen Ressler
Story about handsome detective and food began as a one-shot

This year's October issue of Shueisha's Cocohana magazine will announce on Friday that Akiko Higashimura will start a new series titled Bishoku Tantei (Gourmet Detective) in the November issue on September 28. She previously published the manga as a one-shot in Cocohana in June.

The magazine teases the story:

"Food" is at the heart of the case... Handsome detective Gorō Akechi tastes and solves the mysteries of the world!

Higashimura is also currently drawing Tokyo Tarareba-jō and Princess Jellyfish for Kodansha's Kiss, Himo Zairu in Kodansha's Morning two, and Yukibana no Tora, a biography of a female Uesugi Kenshin, in Shogakukan's Hibana magazine. She ended her award-winning Kakukaku Shikajika manga in January.

Higashimura's Princess Jellyfish (Kuragehime) manga inspired the 2010 Princess Jellyfish television anime series, which Funimation released in North America. Her earlier series Omo ni Naitemasu inspired a live-action television series in 2012.

Crunchyroll offers Princess Jellyfish on its online manga platform and Kodansha Comics licensed the series for North America.
