Project seeks US$75,000 for 3DS/computer game based on 80's anime

Team Saber Rider launched a Kickstarter campaign on Friday for its multi-platform video game based on the 1987 anime series Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs. The project is seeking to earn US$75,000 by October 5 in order to fund 16-bit action game for Nintendo 3DS, Windows, Mac, and Linux. If funded, the game will be released in Europe, America, and Japan.

As of press time the Kickstarter has earned US$3,589.

German studio Firehazard originally announced the game in September 2010 and planned for release in 2011. Firehazard was still searching for a publisher to release the game as of 2012 and the game was still in development as of 2014.

The anime was originally released as Seijuushi Bismarck in Japan in 1984. World Events Productions(WEP) reworked the series for the US market, and still holds the rights to the property.
