Doga Kobo Presents Magical Girls Project Breetschlag via VRScope

Animation studio Doga Kobo announced on Tuesday that its Breetschlag magical girl project will also use Japanese printing company TOPPAN's VRscope product, a virtual reality device that uses a smartphone to generate a 360-degree panoramic view.

Animate stores in Japan began accepting orders for a special Breetschlag-themed VRscope featuring the protagonist Seira Katsuki on Friday. The VRscope costs 900 yen (about US$7).

Doga Kobo revealed its Breetschlag project in 2014. The story is set in a near-future world where a power known as the "Omnipotent Image Hexelicht" exists that can turn one's thoughts, drawn onto a tablet, into reality. Hexelicht exists invisibly in the atmosphere. Special tablets and styli exist that can be used to interrupt the flow of Hexelicht to produce effects, and can materialize human imagination. Those young girls who excel in the manipulation of Hexelicht are called Apostles of the God of Art.

Particularly talented Apostles are permitted to enroll in the exclusive Veritas Girl's Academy. Here, they train their mental fortitude and hone their characteristic abilities. They use their powers to generate special battlefield spaces, where they battle each other using the weapons and creatures their imaginations can generate, all to improve their abilities. The protagonist, Seira Katsuki, enters Veritas Girl's Academy under the personal invitation of the headmaster.

Doga Kobo has previously previewed the project with the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset in various venues, such as in Anime Japan 2015, Unite 2015 Tokyo, and at the Animate in Akiba Culture Zone.

Doga Kobo previously streamed a promotional video for the project's demo in Animate Akiba Culture Zone in July.

Tomoyo Inoue (Weiß Survive series composition, producer) is serving as the project's general producer. Takuya Fujima (Weiß Survive, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid) is designing the characters, and Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass, Ōsama-tachi no Viking) is writing the story.
