Selector Infected Wixoss -Re/verse- Manga Ends in October

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Selector Infected Wixoss spinoff manga by Meki Meki launched in August 2014

The October issue of Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine announced on Friday that Meki Meki's Selector Infected Wixoss -Re/verse- manga will conclude in the magazine's next issue, which Square Enix will publish on October 24.

The manga is a spinoff of the Selector Infected Wixoss card-game anime. The anime's scriptwriter, Mari Okada (anohana, Toradora!, The Anthem of the Heart), is credited with drafting the original story for Selector Infected Wixoss -Re/verse-. The manga centers around Yuragi Kurosawa, and her childhood friend, Mako Tsukishiro, both of whom enjoy playing the WIXOSS card game. A wheelchair-bound girl who Yuragi encounters in town gives Yuragi a black LRIG card called Alfou. Wakaba, a Selector, senses that Yuragi is a new Selector and engages in a battle with her. The next day, Yuragi finds that Mako has found herself a white LRIG called Haiti. Mako confides that she has an impossible wish. Yuragi sets out to make that wish come true for her.

Meki Meki (Fantasista Doll, Ketai Shoujo Re:dial) launched the manga in Big Gangan in August last year. Square Enix published the manga's first compiled book volume on February 25.

The original Selector Infected Wixoss anime premiered in April 2014, and toy and game maker Takara Tomy launched the WIXOSS (pronounced like "wi-cross") card game in the same month. The anime's second season, Selector Spread Wixoss, premiered in October 2014. FUNimation Entertainment streamed both seasons as they aired in Japan. An anime film titled Selector Destructed Wixoss will open in Japanese theaters on February 13.

Another spinoff manga titled Selector Infected Wixoss -peeping analyze-, with a story by Okada and art by Manatsu Suzuki, ended in May.
