Aya Hirano Leaves Hospital After Tonsil Surgery

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Voice actress had hospital stays for tonsillitis since last year

Voice actress Aya Hirano (Parasyte -the maxim-'s Migi, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's Haruhi, Gatchaman Crowds's Paiman) announced on her official blog on Friday that she has left the hospital after undergoing surgery to remove her tonsils. Hirano said that she has stayed at a hospital multiple times since she began suffering from chronic tonsillitis last year.

The voice actress said she worried that the operation would affect her voice, but she said that her voice should not change after the operation. Rather, Hirano said that her voice may even improve due to the surgery.

Hirano returned to work on Friday after a break for the operation. She said that she plans to take her time and work at her own pace until she makes a complete recovery. Hirano will sing at the Dai AQUAPLUS Matsuri event at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on November 28. Hirano previously missed a White Album live performance due to being hospitalized.

Hirano began acting as a child, but she received her big break when she starred in the title role of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime series. She has performed theme songs for anime such as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Fairy Tail, and Lucky Star, another television series for which she headlined. Her other anime roles include Kiddy Grade's Lumière, Death Note's Misa, Fairy Tail's Lucy, and Eyeshield 21's Mamori.
