Splatoon Video Previews New Maps, Costumes, Weapons

Nintendo to host "Treehouse Splatournament" for 3rd-person shooter game in December

Nintendo began streaming a new video for its Splatoon Wii U shooter game during its Nintendo Direct presentation on Thursday. The video shows the new Museum D'Alfonsino and Mahi-Mahi Resort maps, and more than 40 new pieces of gear and costumes for the game.

Nintendo also announced that it will continue to update the game with new content until at least January including new stages, gear, and adjustments to gameplay balance.

The game updated with the new costumes and weapons on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. EST. The new Museum d'Alfonsino map will go live at 9:00 p.m. EST on Friday.

Nintendo also announced that it will host a "Nintendo Treehouse Splatournament" this December. The company will livestream the tournament on Twitch, YouTube, and on its official website.

Nintendo released Splatoon in North America and Europe on May 29 and in Australia on May 30. The game shipped in Japan on May 28. The third-person shooter game centers on "Inklings," who are beings who can transform between human and squid form.
