Final Fantasy VII Remake to be 'Multi-Part Series'

Square Enix: "each entry [to provide] its own unique experience"

Square Enix announced via a press release on Sunday regarding its upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake game, which stated that the game "will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience."

Takashi Mochizuki, a tech reporter at The Wall Street Journal, posted on Twitter on Saturday that the data for the remake game is "so huge" that "the software will be split into several titles (for example, FF7-Remake 1, FF7-Remake 2)." He added that the game will feature new scene additions, but that the "basic story scenario" will remain the same.

Sony posted a video with the game's producer Yoshinori Kitase on Saturday where Kitase explained that the game will not be "completely action-based," but that it will have "more of that element and real-time than the previous game."

Final Fantasy VII Remake will debut first on PlayStation 4. Tetsuya Nomura is returning to the game as its director after serving as the character designer for the original game, and Kazushige Nojima is also returning to write the scenario. Square Enix showed some of the remake's first gameplay footage at PlayStation Experience on Saturday.

The PlayStation 4 port of the original Final Fantasy VII game went on sale on Saturday, and is available at a discount until December 13. Those who purchase the game will receive a static custom Final Fantasy VII Remake theme.
