HaruChika Anime's 2nd Promo Video Reveals January 6 Premiere

Emi Miyajima, Chiaki Omigawa join cast for "concert band youth mystery series"

The official website for the television anime of Sei Hatsuno's HaruChika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru "concert band youth mystery" novel series began streaming the second promotional video on Wednesday. The video reveals that the anime will premiere on January 6 on Tokyo MX. The video also previews fhána's opening theme song "Niji wo Ametara" (If You Knit a Rainbow).

The cast members for the main characters include:


Sōma Saitō as Haruta Kamijō
A first-year high school student. He is Chika's childhood friend. He is a horn player who has a perfect outward appearance and a clear mind. He worries about the love triangle he is in with Chika.


Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Chika Homura
A first-year high school student. She is a flute player and a member of the concert band whose dream is to go to the "Koshien" of high school music competitions, the "Fumonkan." She is worried about the love triangle she is in with Haruta.


Natsuki Hanae as Shinjirō Kusakabe
He was once a conductor as he had hoped of becoming, but now this mysterious 26-year-old serves as advisor of the concert band.


Seiichirō Yamashita as Keisuke Katagiri
A second-year high school student. He is a trumpet player and president of the concert band.


Haruka Chisuga as Miyoko Narushima
A first-year high school student. She is an oboe player who participated in the "Fumonkan" in middle school.


Nobunaga Shimazaki as Maren Sei
A first-year high school student. He is Chinese-American. He used to play the saxophone. He is currently a member of the drama club, though he doesn't attend very often.


Asami Seto as Naoko Serizawa
A first-year high school student. She is a clarinet player who dreams of playing professionally.


Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kaiyū Hiyama
A first-year high school student. He is Serizawa's childhood friend. He is a percussionist. His nickname is Kaiyu.


Yuki Yamada as Akari Gotō
After entering her second year, Haruta and Chika joined the concert band as new members. She is a lively girl who leads the first-year members. She plays the bass trombone.


Emi Miyajima as Sae Asahina
A second-year high school student and Kae's younger twin sister. She plays the bass tuba.


Chiaki Omigawa as Kae Asahina
A second-year high school student and Sae's older twin sister. She plays the clarinet.

The original novels revolve around two high school students named Haruta and Chika, who are members of a concert band that is on the verge of being shut down. The two are childhood friends, and they spend their days practicing hard while also trying to recruit new members. When a certain incident happens within their school, they work together to solve it.

Masakazu Hashimoto (Tari Tari, Soul Eater Not! Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva) is directing the anime at P.A. Works. Reiko Yoshida (Bakuman., K-ON!, Yowamushi Pedal, Tamako Market) is handling the series composition, Namaniku ATK (Chaika the Coffin Princess) is in charge of the original character design, and Asako Nishida (Love Live! School idol project, Vampire Knight, Angel Links) is adapting those designs for animation.

Yurie Oohigashi is serving as chief animation director, and Noboru Sugimitsu is directing the instrument-playing animation. Ayumi Satō is the art director with Katsue Inoue as color key artist. Yōhei Hirata is directing the CG, and Satoshi Namiki is director of photography. Ayumu Takahashi is editing.

Satoki Iida is directing the sound at Glovision, and Katsuhiro Nakano is handling sound effects. Shiroh Hamaguchi (Ah! My Goddess, One Piece, Sakura Wars) is composing the music with producer Terunari Yoshie at Lantis.

The band fhána will perform the opening theme song "Niji wo Ametara" (If You Knit a Rainbow), while singer ChouCho will perform the ending theme "Kūsō Traingle" (Imaginary Triangle).

Hatsuno released the first novel in the series in 2008, and Kadokawa published the fifth novel, Wakusei Karon (Planet Karon), this past summer.
