No renewal plans, 1st season DVDs discontinued

Online anime retailer Robert's Anime Corner Store reported on December 4 that NIS America's license for the first season of the Wagnaria!! has expired.

According to the announcement, NIS America's license expired at the end of November and the company does not plan to renew it. As a result, the company will also discontinue the first season's DVD set.

Aniplex of America describes the series:

The story takes place in a certain family restaurant located in Hokkaido prefecture of Japan called WAGNARIA. Sota Takanashi is a high school student who ended up working part-time at this restaurant through strange circumstances along with his co-workers who are all more than a little eccentric.

Crunchyroll streamed the first two seasons as they aired in Japan, and NIS America licensed and released both in North America under the title Wagnaria!!. Aniplex of America streamed the third season on the Aniplex Channel, Hulu, Crunchyroll, Daisuki, and Viewster as the season aired in Japan.

Working!!! -Lord of the Takanashi- (Wagnaria!!3: Lord of the Takanashi), a one-hour special finale episode for the anime's third season, will air in Japan on December 26.

Update: NIS America has confirmed with ANN that the license has expired and will not be renewed. The company also confirmed that its license of season 2 of the series is still active and available for purchase.
