Ryukishi07 Launches Hotaru-Bi no Tomoru Koro ni Project

The official website for Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine has announced that Higurashi no Naku Koro ni creator Ryukishi07 is launching a new project titled Hotaru-Bi no Tomoru Koro ni (When the Firefly Light Burns). Ryukishi07 will write the story for the original work, while Nokuto Koike (Mitsu no Shima) will provide the art.

Monthly Action will publish a "chapter 0" manga for the new project in its February issue available on December 25.

Additionally, Ryukishi07's upcoming Umineko book, Umineko no Naku Koro ni ~Saigo de Saisho no Okurimono (Umineko no Naku Koro ni ~The First and Last Gift~, pictured below), will contain a prologue novel that will connect Umineko no Naku Koro ni to Hotaru-Bi no Tomoru Koro ni. The book will contain 21 short stories ranging from comedy to serious that were previously only available at Comic Market (Comiket) or special events. Ryukishi07 and Futabasha will release the book on December 18.
