Garakowa -Restore the World- Film Gets English-Subtitled Screenings in 4 Japanese Theaters

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
English-subtitled screenings run from January 16-29, after January 9 opening

Japanese entertainment company T-Joy announced that it will screen the Garakowa -Restore the World- anime film with English subtitles in four theaters in Japan from January 16-29.

The film will screen in Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9, Osaka's Umeda Burg 7, Kyoto's T-Joy Kyoto, and Fukuoka's T-Joy Hakata theaters.

The screening is part of the "YOKOSO! EIGAKAN!" program that allows visitors to view Japanese theatrical films with English subtitles. The first film in the program was Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F', which screened with English subtitles in three of the same theaters from May to June last year. The second film in the program was The Anthem of the Heart, which screened in the same theaters in October last year.

The film's English website describes the story:

A floating space without gravity where an infinite number of lights shine in different colors: The "Box of Wisdom." Inside of this box, there are multiple worlds, multiple timelines, and there used to be many different people. This is where Dual and Dorothy were fighting with enemies called "Viruses." Worlds infected by viruses must be erased. That is the duty, the job of these girls. However, one day, Dual and Dorothy feel the presence of a new Virus. Arriving at the scene, they see a girl being attacked by Viruses. After saving the girl, the duo wait for her to awaken so they can ask who she is, where she came from, and where she is going. Finally, when the girl opened her eyes, she gave her name, Remo, and whispered only one sentence... "I must return to the flower patch..."

Ponycan USA previously announced plans to release the film in North America, and Crunchyroll will stream the film worldwide except in Asia on January 16. Premium Crunchyroll users will also be able to attend a free theatrical screening of the film in San Francisco on January 9.

The film will open in Japan on Saturday, though it was briefly screened during the Tokyo International Film Festival in late October. Pony Canyon held the film's international premiere during Anime Festival Asia in Singapore on November 28.

Masashi Ishihama (From the New World) directed the film at A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, The IDOLM@STER), and Fumihiko Shimo (Air, Kanon, Clannad, Amagi Brilliant Park, Golden Time, Infinite Stratos) wrote the screenplay. Kantoku (The "Hentai" Prince and the Stony Cat., Magical Suite Prism Nana) created the original character designs.
