'The File of Young Kindaichi Returns' Anime Enters 'Legend of Snow Demon' Arc

Manga's "Hitogatajima Murder Case" arc ends

This year's seventh issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine (cover pictured at right) revealed on Wednesday that the second season of The File of Young Kindaichi Returns television anime will begin airing the "Legend of Snow Demon Murder Case" story arc on January 23. The story arc appeared in the original manga's first and second volume.

The magazine is also revealing that the manga is ending its Hitogatajima Murder Case, and will have a color opening page. The manga's eighth volume is slated to ship on Friday.

Seimaru Amagi and Fumiya Sato's Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo R mystery manga inspired the anime adaptation. The story centers around a high school boy named Hajime Kindaichi who usually seems dull, but when there is a case, he demonstrates remarkable deductive skills inherited from his famous detective grandfather.

The story's mystery cases will vary in length from one episode to five-episode arcs. In particular, there will be episodes that feature the elaborate criminal tricks of Yōichi Takatō (voiced by Kenichi Ono), "the puppeteer of Hell" who manipulates other criminals for his schemes.

The anime's first season premiered in Japan in April 2014, and the currently-airing second season premiered in Japan last October. Crunchyroll streamed the first season and is streaming the second season as it airs in Japan.
