Sensa-tions Performs 2nd Assassination Classroom Live-Action Film's Theme Song

posted on by Kyle Hallmark
2nd live-action film based on Yusei Matsui's manga premieres on March 25

Japanese entertainment news website Comic Natalie announced on Monday that Sensa-tions will perform the theme song "Sayonara Sensation" for Ansatsu Kyōshitsu: Sotsugyō-hen (Assassination Classroom: Graduation Edition~), the second live-action Assassination Classroom (Ansatsu Kyōshitsu) film.

A DVD containing the single will ship on March 23, two days before the premiere of the film. Additionally, the song's music video will feature Sensa-tions fighting their assassination teacher Master "B" (pictured at right), played by fighting celebrity Bob Sapp.

Sensa-tions is a nine-member group "produced" by the franchise's Koro-sensei character. The group also provided the theme song for the first live-action Assassination Classroom film.

Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed last month that Tsuyoshi Abe (pictured below) will play the assassin Red Eye in the film.

The film has also cast Mirei Kiritani (seen below, top photograph) as Aguri Yukimura, and Hiroki Narimiya (below photograph) as Kōtarō Yanagisawa.

The film has also cast an actor for the role of the original "God of Death." [highlight white text to read spoilers] Arashi band member Kazunari Ninomiya, who is voicing Koro-sensei for the live-action films, will play the God of Death. Narimiya and Kiritani will play their characters in a flashback scene that shows how the God of Death turned into Koro-sensei.

The film will open in Japan on March 25.

The first live-action film adaptation opened in Japan last March. The Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal hosted the film's international premiere last July. The Fantastic Fest film festival, held in Austin, Texas from September to October, screened the film's U.S. premiere.

Eiichirō Hasumi (Umizaru films, Wild 7) directed the film, and Tatsuya Kanazawa (Saru Lock The Movie, Lucky Seven) wrote the script.

Viz Media is publishing Yūsei Matsui's original manga in North America, and it describes the story:

A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he's the best teacher they've ever had!

The first television anime series premiered in Japan last January, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired. A second series premiered on January 7. Funimation is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
