Squid Girl/Shinryaku! Ika Musume Manga Ends on February 25

Comedy manga's 22nd volume will be last

This year's 12th issue of Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine is announcing on Thursday that Masahiro Anbe will end his Shinryaku! Ika Musume (Squid Girl) manga in the magazine's next issue, which Akita Shoten will publish on February 25. Franken Fran creator Katsuhisa Kigitsu's Kyōdai - Shōjo Tantei to Yūrei Keikan no Kaiki Jikenbo manga will end in the same issue.

Anbe previously announced that the manga's 22nd volume would be the last.

The comedy manga follows a squid girl who vows to invade the beaches of mankind since humans have polluted the seas. However, her invasion is less than successful, and she ends up on dry land.

Anbe launched the manga in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in 2007. Akita Shoten published the manga's 21st volume on January 8. The manga received two 12-episode television anime series adaptations. The first season premiered in 2010, while the second season premiered in 2011. Crunchyroll streamed both television anime as they aired in Japan under the title Squid Girl, and also streamed two original video DVDs. Media Blasters licensed both seasons, and it released the first season on DVD in 2011, and in a complete Blu-ray Disc collection in 2012.

Anbe previously collaborated with Nintendo's Splatoon Wii U shooter game to promote the game.
