Pokémon Sun & Moon Unveiled for 3DS for Holiday 2016

Games announced in 9 languages on franchise's 20th anniverary

Nintendo announced during its streamed Pokémon Direct presentation on Friday that Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will be the franchise's "all-new Pokémon adventure" in nine languages during the Holiday 2016 season. The games will be available on the Nintendo 3DS worldwide in Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, and — unlike in the previous generation — Chinese (Traditional and Simplified). Players can choose their preferred language when they launch each game.

Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow Versions — the franchise's original generation of games — will be available as paid digital downloads in the Nintendo eShop tomorrow. Unlike the original version of these games on the Nintendo Game Boy, these new digital versions will allow players to transfer captured monsters to Pokémon Sun and Moon via the Pokémon Bank service.

The presentation marked the 20th anniversary of the franchise's very first game releases in Japan on the Nintendo Game Boy on February 27, 1996.

Update: English and Japanese videos added.
