Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the three-episode Strawberry Marshmallow OVA and the two-episode Strawberry Marshmallow Encore OVA. The company plans to release them digitally and on home video.
The 2007 and 2009 OVAs are sequels to the 2005 television anime. The anime adapted Barasui's slice-of-life manga from Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine. The story deals with everyday vignettes in the lives of high school freshman Nobue, her 12-year-old younger sister Chika, and their friends.
Sentai Filmworks announced in January that it had licensed the 2005 television anime series. Geneon Entertainment previously released the anime series in North America. Tokyopop released part of the original manga before closing its North American manga publishing division in 2011.
