Genocidal Organ Film's Teaser Video Assures That 'Project Still Goes On'

The Noitamina Project Presentation debuted a new teaser video for the anime film of Project Itoh's Genocidal Organ novel on Thursday. The video reaffirms that the new anime company Geno Studio is now producing the film and that the "project still goes on." The video also quotes Shukou Murase, who is continuing to work as director with "other main staff members" on the film. The quote reads, "I am able to think that Project Itoh gave us this chance to continue production on this project."
The staff said last year that they hoped to complete the film by the end of this year, but added that there is no specific release time period to announce yet.
The studio Manglobe, which was originally animating the film, filed for bankruptcy in September and formally began its bankruptcy proceedings with the Tokyo District Court in November. 237 parties are claiming 544.5 million yen (about US$4.43 million) in debt from the studio.
Genocidal Organ was originally slated to open in October, but the release order of the three Project Itoh films was shuffled in July so that The Empire of Corpses would open in October and Genocidal Organ would open in November. The Empire of Corpses opened on October 2 in Japan, and Harmony opened on November 13.
The film website Tracking Board reported in January that director Chan-wook Park (Oldboy, Thirst, Stoker) will direct a film adaptation of Genocidal Organ.
