VisualArts puts English version of game on Steam Greenlight with expected summer release

Visual novel publisher VisualArt's began streaming an English opening video on Friday for its Key brand's Tomoyo After ~It's a Wonderful Life~ visual novel software.

VisualArt's added the English version of the game to Steam's Greenlight program on Friday. Under the Steam Greenlight program, developers advertise their game or software, and community support decides which titles will be selected for distribution.

The Greenlight page states that VisualArt's plans to release the game this summer. The company describes the game as follows:

One day Tomoyo's brother, Takafumi, brings his father's illegitimate child, Tomo, to Tomoya's apartment.
Tomo had been abandoned by her mother, and Tomoya and Tomoyo reluctantly decide they would look after her.
Furthermore, Takafumi's ex-girlfriend, Kanako, ran away from her home just before the start of summer vacation.
She too ends up staying in Tomoya's room.

Tomoya, Tomoyo, Tomo, Takafumi, Kanako.
And so begins the first and the last summer these five people will spend together.

VisualArt's announced in October that it planned to release the visual novel officially in English. The publisher added that the release will base its translations on fan translations, "and some parts will be modified and re-translated." As a result, the fan translations will be removed from servers hosting them.

Tomoyo After ~It's a Wonderful Life~ is a spinoff of the earlier Clannad visual novel, which inspired both anime and manga. Tomoyo After ~It's a Wonderful Life~ centers on the character Tomoyo, and it itself inspired manga by Yukiko Sumiyoshi. The game was ported to such systems as the PlayStation 3.
