2nd film in 2-part series opened in Japan in 2014

Sentai Filmworks announced on Thursday that it has licensed the Hakuoki ~ Demon of the Fleeting Blossom: Warrior Spirit of the Blue Sky (Hakuōki Dai-nishō Shikon Sōkyū) anime film and plans to release the film digitally and on home video.

Sentai Filmworks announced in February that it has licensed the film Hakuoki ~ Demon of the Floating Blossom: Wild Dance of Kyoto (Hakuōki Dai-isshō Kyoto Ranbu). The two films were part of a two-part project, and opened in Japan in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

The main cast from the previous anime projects returned the films. Osamu Yamasaki directed the film, and he co-wrote the film's script with Tsunekiyo Fujisawa. Atsuko Nakajima returned to adapt Yone Kazuki's original character designs for animation, and she also served as chief animation director. Kenji Kawai took over for Ko Otani for the film's music. Studio DEEN again animated the film.

Sentai Filmworks has also licensed and released the original Hakuoki television anime, the Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom - Dawn of the Shinsengumi prequel series, the Hakuōki: Record of the Jade Blood sequel series, and the Hakuōki: A Memory of Snow Flowers OVA.

Hakuōki: Otogisōshi, new short anime series featuring SD characters, premiered earlier this month.
