Tohokushinsha Film's "Kimikoe Project" website confirmed on Wednesday that it will produce a new anime film animated by the studio Madhouse (Summer Wars, Chihayafuru, One-Punch Man). The film is slated to open in 2017.

Naoyuki Itou (Overlord, Eiga Dokidoki! Precure Mana Kekkon!!? Mirai ni Tsunagu Kibō no Dress, 2002's Kanon, Digimon: Data Squad) is directing the film, while Manabu Ishikawa (Welcome to Irabu's Office, Yozakura Quartet ~Hoshi no Umi~, Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~) is penning the script. Manga creator and illustrator Toshinao Aoki (Futari de Okawari, Kurumi no Ki, Rail of Life) is designing the characters, and also drew the above illustration. The winner of the project's "Kimikoe Audition" will be part of the film's main cast.
Tokushinsha Film and the Family Gekijō television network launched the "Kimikoe Project" in January, and began accepting applicants in March. The project aims to find a girl to debut as a voice actress and singer. Apart from the voice role in the film, the winner will also debut as a singer with a CD single from Lantis, as well as in a regular program on Family Gekijō. The campaign extended the application period to May 8.
