RS Project -Rebirth Storage- Robot Anime Reveals Cast, More Staff

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Kouki Uchiyama, Sumire Uesaka, more star in anime special airing in June

The offical website for the RS Project -Rebirth Storage- anime revealed the show's main cast and additional staff members on Thursday. The official site also lists that a second special video is "coming soon."

The show's cast includes:

Kōki Uchiyama as Rin Sagami, a 17-year-old pilot cadet at the Tokyo Muttsu Institute. He was disqualified as a main pilot due to his insufficient aptitude with the Muttsu, and so he is instead Yuzuru's partner and sub-pilot.

Sumire Uesaka as Yuzuru Midō, a 17-year-old pilot cadet at the Tokyo Muttsu Institute. She got all A's on her aptitude test for Muttsu and she has outstanding talent.

Satoshi Hino as George Muguruma, a 29-year-old veteran pilot at the Tokyo Muttsu Institute who has a lot of combat experience and is a good senior to the rookie pilots.

Takanori Hoshino as Yūichirō Sawatari, a 44-year-old man who is the tactical commander for the Tokyo Muttsu Institute, and was instrumental in its establishment.

Mai Nakahara as Yuki Mishima, a 27-year-old woman who is the executive chief engineer for the Tokyo Muttsu Institute. She is like an older sister to Rin and Yuzuru.

Ayane Sakura as Kaori Shimizu, a 23-year-old mechanic at the Tokyo Muttsu Institute who is a cheerful mood-maker.

The official website for the anime special is hosting more anime character designs for each character and the original character designs for Rin and Yuzuru.

Osamu Kamei (episode director for Valvrave the Liberator, Tiger & Bunny, Aikatsu!) is making his directorial debut with the special, and Miyuki Kishimoto (Kekkaishi, The File of Young Kindaichi Returns) is writing the script. Shūichirō Satō designed the mecha, DeNA's Tsubasa Masao designed the characters, and Fuji TV's Taku Matsuo and DeNA's Yūichirō Nogami are producing the anime.

The anime will debut as a television special on Fuji TV in June. The project's website streamed the anime's first special video last month.

RS Project (originally proposed as "F.S. Project" for "Find Storage") takes place in a parallel world that resembles modern Japan, but where alien lifeforms known as "Muttsu" (Trick) fell from the sky in 2025 and wiped out many cities. Nine years later, the main characters are a pilot, Yuzuru Midō, and her assistant, Rin Sagami, who use a mecha made out of an enemy's remains discovered in Japan. However, battle causes memory loss for the pilot, and they must unravel the mystery as to why.

The anime won the "Bokutachi no Mitai Mecha Anime o Tsukurou Seisaku Iinkai" ('Let's make the mecha anime we want to see' production committee, or "MechaTsuku" for short) contest from smartphone novel production company Every Star. Roll was in charge of the original planning for the contest entry, and Shūichirō Satō designed the mecha.
