Chaika - The Coffin Princess AVENGING BATTLE to be available via digital outlets, home video

North American anime distributor Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it licensed Chaika - The Coffin Princess AVENGING BATTLE, the second anime season based on Ichiro Sasaki's Chaika - The Coffin Princess novels. The anime "will be available through select digital outlets, with a home video release to follow."

Sentai Filmworks describes the story:

Chaika, Toru, Akari, and Fredrica's adventures continue as they plot to secure the emperor's heart from the Hero Claudia. However, when another of the emperor's dark secrets come to light, Chaika struggles to come to terms with her identity and her purpose. With conflict looming on the horizon, will Chaika's quest ultimately bring peace? Or will the country, once again, be torn apart by war?

Sōichi Masui (Scrapped Princess) returned to direct the second season at Bones with series composition by Touko Machida (Tears to Tiara). Nobuhiro Arai (Honey and Clover key animation) designed the characters for the series, while Seikou Nagaoka (Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream) composed the soundtrack. The voice actress unit coffin princess of Chika Anzai, Yui Makino, and Saeko Zōgō returned to perform the ending theme song, "Watashi wa Omae no Naka ni Iru" (I Am Inside of You).

The first season adapting Sasaki's novels premiered in April 2014, and the second cour (quarter of the year) of the anime premiered in October 2014. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons of the anime as they aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks released the first season with an English dub on Blu-ray Disc and DVD last December.
