Akane teaches Makoto a locking spell in latest spinoff episode

The official website for the television anime of Chihiro Ishizuka's Flying Witch manga began streaming the fifth Flying Witch Petit short anime episode on Friday.

In the episode, Akane teaches Makoto how to use a lock spell to make it so other people can't open her secret notes or spells. Akane tells her to write 13 numbers with a red pen onto an eraser, but make sure to remember the numbers as those will be the combination to unlock the book. After Makoto puts the eraser with the numbers on it on the notebook, her sister teaches her the spell to lock the book. However, after locking it, Makoto asks her sister to not talk to her, as she's afraid she might forget the combination. Although she remembered the numbers, she writes them down on the notebook so she won't forget, not realizing that doing so makes the lock spell lose all meaning.

A "special version" of the first two episodes of the short will ship with the first DVD and Blu-ray Disc volume in Japan on June 22.

The cast for the main show and the Flying Witch Petit shorts includes:

Minami Shinoda as Makoto Kowata
Eri Suzuki as Chinatsu Kuramoto
Shinsuke Sugawara as Kei Kuramoto
Kana Aoi as Akane Kowata
Shiori Mikami as Nao Ishiwatari
Mari Hino as Inukai
Yuka Iguchi as Anzu Shiina
Ai Kayano as Chito
Ayane Sakura as Kenny
Ari Ozawa as Aru

The main anime's comical story follows the 15-year-old witch Makoto Kowata and the other boys and girls in her daily life. With her black cat Chito, the somewhat aimless girl moved from Yokohama to live with her second cousin in Aomori in verdant northern Japan.

The main anime premiered on April 9. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs and Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series.
