The official website of the television anime adaptation for Imigimuru's Kono Bijutsu-bu niwa Mondai ga Aru! (This Art Club Has a Problem!) comedy manga revealed new cast, staff, visuals, and the anime's July 7 premiere on Friday.
The anime's main cast, which includes the newly revealed Kentarō Tone, are as follows:
Yūsuke Kobayashi as Subaru Uchimaki, a second year student who, despite prodigious talent in art, only joined the art club to draw his perfect 2D wife. He has absolutely zero interest in the 3D world.
Sumire Uesaka as Colette, the sole first year in the art club. She is a free spirit with a curiously prominent forehead. She's a foreigner who has lived in Japan for about six or seven years.
Kentarō Tone as the Club President, who, as his title suggests, is the art club's president. He is a third-year student who constantly sleeps in the club room, but sometimes dispenses sage advice.
Nao Tōyama as Mari Imari, a mysterious transfer student in Uchimaki's class. She's popular with the guys, but that's only because few know about her chūnibyō side.
Nana Mizuki as Yumeko Tachibana, a new teacher, and the adviser for the art club. Although she has only just begun her teaching career, she already possesses a mature appearance. She has a habit of bowing profusely.
Other cast members include:
- Hirohiko Kakegawa as Koyama-sensei
- Sora Tokui as Kaori Ayase
- Chiaki Shimogama as Sayaka Honda
- Kana Marutsuka as Ryōko Kunigawa
- Aimi Tanaka as Moeka
- Mikako Komatsu as Shizuka
- Ayane Sakura as Magical Ribbon
The manga focuses on an art club in a certain middle school, and its members: Subaru Uchimaki, who is a genius at drawing faces, but only wants to draw the perfect 2D wife; Colette, a rich troublemaker who never stops making mischief; and the club president, who sleeps through sessions and collects sleeping aids. Mizuki Usami is the only person in the club who wants to do art club-like activities, and constantly struggles to do so.
Kei Oikawa (Outbreak Company, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!, Minami-ke: Okaeri) is directing the series at studio feel. Naruhisa Arakawa (MAOYU, Outbreak Company, Kingdom) is writing and overseeing the scripts, Mai Otsuka (Non Non Biyori, Shakugan no Shana) is designing the characters, and Satoshi Motoyama (Oreimo, Little Busters!, WATAMOTE) is the sound director. Kuniaki Masuda (Kiss×sis, So, I Can't Play H!) is the chief animation director.
