BD will feature 30 minutes of new Pure Pure Purea Desu chibi anime shorts on September 30

The 10th novel volume (pictured at right) of Kugane Maruyama's Overlord light novel series revealed on Monday that the novel series' 11th volume will bundle an original anime Blu-ray Disc, which will contain 30 minutes of new footage of the Pure Pure Purea Desu chibi anime short series. The 11th volume is slated to ship on September 30.

The new anime will feature the appearance of the Pleiades combat maids, as well as the rest of the Floor Guardians.

The original comedy anime shorts featured super-deformed characters, and each short aired after the AT-X network's broadcast of each episode of the main Overlord television anime series in 2015. Media Factory streamed the shorts starting on the Friday after each new episode of the main television series aired. Each episode was available for a two-week limited period, and the original episodes are also available on the Japanese home video releases of the Overlord anime.

The Overlord anime's main cast reprised their roles for the anime shorts. Minoru Ashina (Kōkaku Kidōtai Nyumon Arise, Agriculture Angel Baraki) produced, directed, and wrote scripts for the shorts. Minoru Takehara (Agriculture Angel Baraki, Boku, Otaryman) served as the petite character designer and animation director. Studio Puyukai (Kōkaku Kidōtai Nyumon Arise, Agriculture Angel Baraki) animated the series, and Medicrie offered production cooperation.

The 13-episode Overlord television anime series premiered in Japan last July. The story takes place in the year 2138 when virtual reality gaming is booming. Yggdrasil, a popular online game, is quietly shut down one day. However, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as "the most powerful wizard." The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) beginning to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.

Funimation streamed the anime series as it aired in Japan.

Kugane Maruyama began the original light novel series online in 2010, and Kadokawa's Enterbrain imprint then published it in print with illustrations by so-bin in 2012. The series has 2.5 million copies in print in Japan. Yen Press licensed the novel series for North America, and released the first volume last Tuesday.
