2016 Pokémon Film's 2 Ads Feature Volcanion, Magearna

The Pokémon Company Japan began streaming two commercials for the Pokémon the Movie XY & Z: Volcanion to Karakuri no Magearna (Pokémon the Movie XY & Z: Volcanion and the Clockwork Magearna) anime film on Tuesday. The first commercial focuses on Volcanion, while the second commercial focuses on Magearna.

In addition, a third video promotes the television airing of the Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages on TV Tokyo and its affiliates on Thursday, July 14 at 6:00 p.m. JST. The earlier film's airing is part of a two-hour special event that will preview previously unrevealed footage from the upcoming film. The two-hour special event will also feature the television premiere of the Pikachu to Pokémon Ongakutai anime short, which ran before theatrical screenings of the Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages film last year.

The new film will open in Japan on July 16. YUKI will perform the film's theme song "Post ni Koe o Nageirete" (Put Your Voice in the Post Box).

The film's guest stars include (from left to right):

• Kabuki actor Somegorō Ichikawa VII as Volcanion
• Actress Mayu Matsuoka as Azod Kingdom's princess Kimia
• Kouichi Yamadera as Jarvis, the cabinet minister who plans to rule Azod

The film will mark Ichikawa and Matsuoka's voice acting debut.

The Pokémon Company International previously revealed the new Mythical Pokémon Magearna, which will be key to the film's plot. Magearna is an Artificial Pokémon, created by humans 500 years ago The Pokémon Company International describes the film follows:

In this latest Pokémon full-length feature film, a mysterious force binds Ash to the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion when it falls from the sky. Volcanion can't get away, and Ash is dragged along as it continues on its mission. They arrive in a city of cogs and gears, where a corrupt minister has stolen the ultimate invention: the Artificial Pokémon Magearna, created 500 years ago. The minister plans to use Magearna's mysterious power to take control of the mechanical kingdom. Can Ash and Volcanion work together to rescue Magearna? One of the greatest battles in Pokémon history is about to unfold!

The two previous Pokémon XY films have each featured a Pikachu anime short that screened before the film.

The following characters and their returning cast are confirmed for the film: Satoshi (Ash), Pikachu, Serena, Citron (Clemont), Eureka (Bonnie), Musashi (Jessie), Kojirō (James), Nyarth (Meowth), and the Narrator.
