Intelligence firm: iOS version earns US$1.6 million daily

The data collection company SurveyMonkey reported on Wednesday that Nintendo and Niantic Labs' Pokémon GO augmented reality smartphone game reached 21 million daily active users in the United States — surpassing Candy Crush Saga's reported peak user record of 20 million to become the smartphone game with most active users in the United States thus far. The same report states that the game is on track to surpass the number of users of Snapchat.

Forbes reported on Tuesday that globally, the game's average usage time among users has surpassed WhatsApp and Instagram. An earlier Forbes report on Monday notes that market intelligence firm Sensor Tower estimates that the game earns US$1.6 million in daily revenue from its iOS version, with no figures provided for the game's Android version.

The Pokémon Go app launched last week in select countries, and was followed by a rise in Nintendo stock.
