Shūmatsu no Izetta Original Anime Reveals New Visual, Story, Characters

posted on by Karen Ressler
Story follows witch living in fictional WWII-era Europe

The official website for the upcoming original anime Shūmatsu no Izetta (Izetta of the End) television anime updated on Friday with a new key visual and information on the story and characters.

The website's introduction to the story reads:

If I am promised to the princess, then I will fight for her sake.

In 1939 C.E., the imperialist nation of Germania invaded a neighboring country. All at once, that war spread throughout Europe, and the era was dragged into a spiral of a great war.

Then, in 1940, Germania's attack turned towards the Principality of Elystadt, a small Alps country abundant with beautiful water and greenery.

The introduction page also includes the anime's fictional map of Europe.

The main characters are (official romanizations not yet confirmed):

Izetta, the descendant of a family of witches. She can cast a spell on anything she touches and manipulate it at will. Since she was young, she and her grandmother lived their lives on the road, travelling between European countries in order to hide the power.

Fine, the sole daughter and heir to Rudolf III, ruler of the Principality of Elystadt. From a young age she has been adored for her wisdom and kind heart by not only her retainers, but by all the citizens. Since her father is sick, she prepares for Germania's invasion in his stead.

The series will begin broadcasting on AT-X, Tokyo MX, and other channels in October. The project also has a German title, Izetta, Die Letzte Hexe (Izetta, The Last Witch).

The website previously streamed two promotional videos.
