Mogura no Uta Sequel Film's Title, Additional Cast, December 23 Opening Revealed

The official website for the sequel film to the live-action film adaptation of Noboru Takahashi's Mogura no Uta crime manga revealed the film's title additional cast, and December 23 opening on Tuesday. The film is titled Mogura no Uta: Hong Kong Kyōsōkyoku (Hong Kong Capriccio).
The new cast includes (clockwise from upper left in picture above):
- Eita as Shinya Kabuto, an elite police officer chasing Reiji
- Tsubasa Honda as Karen, the daughter of the Sukiyakai leader Shūhō Todoroki
- Nanao as Fu Fong, an assassin of the Chinese mafia
- Arata Furuta as Momoji Sakuraba, an out of control former Yakuza
The site is streaming a teaser trailer, previewing the film's Hong Kong setting. The film will adapt the manga's "Chinese Mafia" arc.
Director Takashi Miike (live-action Ace Attorney, Crows Zero, Yatterman, For Love's Sake, Ichi the Killer), scriptwriter Kankurō Kudō (The Legend of Kamui, Maiko Haaaan!!!, Miike's Zebraman, Ping-Pong, Go), and lead actor Toma Ikuta (Hana Zakari no Kimi-tachi e, We Were There, Akihabara @ DEEP, Honey and Clover) will reunite for the sequel.
The first film, Mogura no Uta: Senyū Sōsakan Reiji, opened in February 2014.
The crime action story revolves around Reiji Kikukawa, a police officer who goes undercover to infilitrate a gangster syndicate. Takahashi launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Young Sunday magazine in 2005, but he moved the manga to Weekly Big Comic Spirits after Weekly Young Sunday ceased publication in 2008. Shogakukan published the 49th compiled book volume on June 30. The series has more than 6.5 million copies in print.
Takahashi is also drawing a side story, Mogura no Uta Gaiden Papillon Dance, in Shogakukan's Monthly Spirits. Shogakukan published the sixth compiled book volume on June 30.
