Aniplex USA to Screen 1st Kizumonogatari Film in Theaters in Canada

Aniplex of America announced on Friday that it will screen the Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu anime film in Canada starting on August 28. Azoland Pictures is distributing the film, and screening will include a mini-poster gift for viewers while supplies last. Aniplex of America will sell tickets to the film through its official website for Kizumonogatari.
The theaters screening the film include:
- Cineplex Odeon Eau Claire Market Cinemas in Eau Claire, Calgary
- Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane in Parklane, Halifax
- Cineplex Cinemas Yonge-Dundas and VIP in Yonge-Dundas, Toronto
- The Park Theatre in The Park, Vancouver
All screenings will be with the original Japanese audio and English subtitles.
Aniplex of America previously screened the film in the United States in February-March.
The Kizumonogatari film project is a trilogy, and the first film opened in Japan on January 8. The second film is slated for an August 19 debut in Japan.
Akiyuki Simbo is once again credited as chief director at the anime studio SHAFT. Akio Watanabe and Hideyuki Morioka are designing the characters. Yōta Tsuruoka is directing the sound, and Satoru Kousaki is composing the music. Tatsuya Oishi is the director.
Kizumonogatari is the third volume in NisiOisin's Monogatari book series and is a prequel to Bakemonogatari. The novel tells the story of how protagonist Koyomi encounters the female vampire that would turn him and his journey to return to his normal life. North American publisher Vertical released the novel in English in December.
