The ILCA anime studio (Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories, Kowabon) opened a website on Monday to reveal a new original television anime series titled Sengoku Chōjū Giga (Sengoku Wildlife Caricatures) that will premiere in October. The series will air on KBC TV, tvk, TV Saitama, Chiba TV, and Sun TV.
The anime will use a sumi-e (traditional Japanese ink painting) motif, and will feature Japan's famous Sengoku-era warlords as animals. The anime will depict the characters in historically important events as well as in casual everyday situations.
Takashi Sumida (Sengoku Nabe TV, Bakarhythm The Movie, Jitsuzai-Sei Million Arthur) is directing the series, and Hiromu Kumamoto (Kagewani, Kawabon, Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories) is writing the scripts. Japanese artist Nielsen is handling the key animation.
