Bandai Namco Entertainment announced at Gamescom 2016 on Wednesday that Lee Chaolan and Violet are joining the roster of its Tekken 7 fighting game. Lee is returning from the original Tekken game, and Violet is Lee's alter ego.

Players will follow the story from the Mishima clan's point-of-view, but the game will also include story arcs focusing on other fighters. Bandai Namco Entertainment also announced details on a story arc focusing on Claudio Serafino's group of exorcists:

The Archers of Sirius are a group of exorcists who have been banishing supernatural entities from the world since ancient times. A highly secretive organization, its existence is unknown to the general public. Although it is unknown how their existence was subsequently revealed, the Archers of Sirius were suddenly approached by the Mishima Zaibatsu to join their conglomerate. The Archers of Sirius naturally refused but this did not stop the persistent pressure from the Mishima Zaibatsu and eventually the news of their unrelenting harassment reached the de facto leader of the Archers of Sirius, Claudio Serafino. Determined to uncover the motives behind the Mishima Zaibatsu's aggressive recruitment tactics, Claudio begins to investigate the powerful conglomerate.

Bandai Namco Entertainment released an arcade update for Tekken 7 titled Tekken 7: Fated Retribution on July 5 in Japan. The update includes a graphics update as well as a new system, new stages, new costumes, new items, and new characters. Bandai Namco Entertainment added Akuma (Gōki) from CAPCOM's Street Fighter games and Nina Williams as playable characters in the update. Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will be the basis for the game's eventual launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC in early 2017.
