3rd Kizumonogatari Film Slated for January 6

Key visual revealed for final film in trilogy

The official website for the the Kizumonogatari film trilogy announced on Friday that the third and final film, Kizumonogatari III: Reiketsu-hen (Cold blood), is slated for January 6, 2017. The staff also revealed the film's key visual, illustrated by character designer Akio Watanabe.

The first film, Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu (Iron blood), opened in Japan on January 8. The second film, Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen (hot blood), is debuting in Japan on Friday.

Aniplex of America previously screened the first film in the United States in February-March. The company will screen the first film in four theaters in Canada starting on August 28, and will screen the second film in the United States starting in October.

Kizumonogatari is the third volume in NisiOisin's Monogatari book series and is a prequel to Bakemonogatari. The novel tells the story of how protagonist Koyomi encounters the female vampire that would turn him and his journey to return to his normal life. North American publisher Vertical released the novel in English in December.
