Idolish 7 Multimedia Project Has Anime in the Works

posted on by Karen Ressler
Bandai Namco's project also includes smartphone game, manga, anime music videos

The staff of Idolish 7, Bandai Namco's fictional male idol group multimedia project, announced during a Niconico livestream event on Friday that an anime adaptation is in the works. Game producer Ayaka Negishi said that the story of the anime will be similar to the game. The format of the anime has not yet been revealed.

Bandai Namco Online made the Idolish 7 "dramatic rhythm action" iOS and Android game with music in collaboration with Lantis. The player assumes the role of Tsumugi Takanashi, a manager for a new idol group. She must train seven male singers — each with their own individual personalities — to turn them into the No. 1 idols. The game features full voicing of the dialogue by the cast.

The Niconico livestream also announced upcoming animated music videos for three new songs by the project's three groups: Idolish 7, Trigger, and Re:vale. The project has already included multiple animated music videos from different animation studios.

"RESTART POiNTER," produced by Kamikaze Douga

"Leopard Eyes," produced by NAS

"MEMORiES MELODiES," produced by BONES

The multimedia project is celebrating its one-year anniversary with the release of its i7 album on August 24.

The project has included multiple manga adaptations. Arina Tanemura (Full Moon O Sagashite, Phantom Thief Jeanne), the project's original character designer, drew the IDOLiSH 7 TRIGGER -before The Radiant Glory- manga with a story by Bunta Tsushimi, and the pair will launch Idolish 7 MEZZO: Murasaki Ao no Hekireki in Hakusensha's LaLaDX magazine on October 8. Nokoshi Yamada launched another manga on Hakusensha's "Hana LaLa online" site on July 24, 2015. Tsushimi also launched the novelization on the Web Hakusensha Novels site at the end of July 2015.

The members of Idolish 7 are: Toshiki Masuda as Iori Izumi, Yusuke Shirai as Yamato Nikaidou, Tsubasa Yonaga as Mitsuki Izumi, KENN as Tamaki Yotsuba, Atsushi Abe as Sogo Ohsaka, Takuya Eguchi as Nagi Rokuya, and Kenshō Ono as Riku Nanase. The members of the rival Trigger idol group are Wataru Hatano as Gaku Yaotome, Sōma Saitō as Ten Kujō, and Takuya Satou as Ryūnosuke Tsunashi. Members of the idol duo Re:vale are Sōichiro Hoshi as Momo and Shinnosuke Tachibana as Yuki.
