Bamboo Blade C & BB Deformer Manga End

posted on by Alex Mateo
Series' final volumes ship October 25

The September issue of Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine published the final chapters of both Masahiro Totsuka and Jingu Takao's Bamboo Blade C manga and Totsuka and Saki Azumi's BB Deformer spin-off manga on Thursday. The final compiled book volumes for both series — Bamboo Blade C's seventh volume and BB Deformer's second volume — will ship in Japan on October 25.

Bamboo Blade C, Totsuka's third manga series about high school girls who practice kendō (Japanese sword fencing), debuted in the June 2013 issue of Monthly Big Gangan. Totsuka was once again credited for the story, while Jingu Takao (Syllabus of Oshie) drew the manga this time. The sixth and most recent volume shipped in February.

BB Deformer, a four-panel Bamboo Blade spinoff comic by Totsuka and illustrator Saki Azumi, debuted in the November 2013 issue of Monthly Big Gangan. The first compiled book volume shipped in September 2014.

Totsuka and artist Aguri Igarashi (Saki Achiga-hen episode of side-A) already ended the first Bamboo Blade manga series in 2010, and Yen Press published it in North America. AIC A.S.T.A. adapted the manga into a television anime series in 2007-2008, and Funimation released the anime in North America.

Studio Neko ended the second manga series, Bamboo Blade B, in Monthly Shonen Gangan in November 2013.
