AFA Indonesia Hosts Voice Actresses Atsumi Tanezaki, Nozomi Furuki, Adviser Takaaki Suzuki

Southeast Asian anime convention Anime Festival Asia announced on Friday that the High School Fleet anime will be a featured anime at its Indonesian event. The convention will host voice actresses Atsumi Tanezaki, Nozomi Furuki, and design adviser Takaaki Suzuki as part of the event.

High School Fleet premiered on April 9. The near-future science-fiction story takes place on an Earth where the water levels have risen enough to sink many coastal cities. Artificial "floating cities" have been established in many coastal areas, including the naval city of Yokosuka in Japan. Yokosuka serves as the headquarters of the "Blue Mermaids," an all-female task force of operators, sailors, and diplomats who patrol international waters. Protagonist Akeno Misaki and her friend Moeka China dream of joining the Blue Mermaids, and enroll in Yokosuka's Marine High School to study to become members.

Yuu Nobuta (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, Blade & Soul episode director) directed the series at Production IMS. Reiko Yoshida (Non Non Biyori, K-ON!, Yowamushi Pedal) handed series composition. Atto (Non Non Biyori) drew more than 30 original character designs for the series. Naoto Nakamura (A Certain Scientific Railgun, Haganai) served as the character designer and chief animation director. Suzuki is credited with the original work for the series, and wrote the script for some episodes alongside Yoshida and Kunihiko Okada.

Tanezaki made her major debut as a voice actress in 2012's My Little Monster, where she played the character Asako Natsume. She has since voiced roles in such anime as il sole penetra le illusioni ~ Day Break Illusion (Itsuki Tendo, Mutsumi Tendo, Nanase Tendo), Persona 3 the Movie #1 Spring of Birth (Natsuki Moriyama), Hozuki's Coolheadedness (Karashi), In Search of the Lost Future (Yaeko Azuma), Death Parade (Mayu Arita), Monster Musume (Lilith), The Perfect Insider (Moe Nishinosono), and Mob Psycho 100 (Tome Kurata). She voiced torpedo officer Mei Irizaki in High School Fleet.

Furuki debuted in the Transformers Prime show in 2010, where she voiced the character Miko Nakadai. She has voiced roles in such anime as Chiisana Ojisan (Watashi or Me), Barakamon (Miwa Yamamura), The Seven Deadly Sins (Ellen), The Rolling Girls (Yukari Otonashi), Seiyu's Life (Aoi Konno), and Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign (Chess Belle). She voiced gunnery officer Shima Tateishi in High School Fleet.

Suzuki is a scriptwriter and design adviser. He was born in Hokkaido. He has provided research and advice on many military-themed anime, including High School Fleet, but also such anime as Strike Witches, Girls und Panzer, Upotte!!, and GATE. He first worked on Gonzo's Last Exile anime in 2003. After finishing the project, he helped develop and conceptualize what would be the Strike Witches franchise alongside artist Fumikane Shimada, and is a member of Striker Unit, the collective name of the individuals who develop the world and story of Strike Witches. He also frequently assists manga creator Takeshi Nogami, who himself has worked on spinoffs of both the Strike Witches and Girls und Panzer franchises.

Other convention guests include Yōhei Azakami and Chika Anzai. The musical acts for the Indonesia convention include Aimer, bless4, Eir Aoi, Elisa, Lia, livetune+, Maaya Uchida, and nano. AFA Indonesia will take place on September 16-18 at the Jakarta International Expo.
