Film features Disney XD's English dub voice cast

Level-5 and Eleven Arts announced on Thursday that they have partnered with Fathom Events to screen Yo-kai Watch: The Movie, the first Yo-kai Watch anime film, in select theaters in the United States for a one-day screening on October 15.

Fathom Events' website will host the full list of theaters screening the film.

Eleven Arts describes the film:

In YO-KAI WATCH: THE MOVIE EVENT, Jibanyan, Whisper, and Nate meet a heroic Yo-kai named Hovernyan, and must travel back in time to team up with Nate's adolescent grandfather to stop an evil Yo-kai from taking over the world! Can they discover the secret origin of the Yo-kai Watch and save humanity before time runs out!?

The film will feature the voice cast from the Yo-kai Watch television anime's Disney XD English dub. It also introduces Hovernyan, a floating blue cat who is the companion of Nate's grandfather Nathaniel.

Theatergoers will also be able to receive a limited-edition Hovernyan Yo-motion Medal, which can be used with the Yo-kai Watch Model Zero toy, and unlocks content in the Yo-kai Watch Land and Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble apps, and the YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits and YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls Nintendo 3DS games.

The Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble app will have a limited-time Hovernyan event that will tie in to the film.

The film premiered in Japan in December 2014. The film was the top grossing domestic film in Japan in 2015, and earned 7.8 billion yen (about US$65 million). It ranked #1 in the Japanese box office in its opening weekend by selling 1,484,916 tickets for 1,628,893,000 yen (about US$13.53 million). The film retained its #1 ranking for two weeks after opening, and stayed in the top 10 for 11 weeks. The film also topped the 2015 animation DVD sales.

The Yo-kai Watch television anime premiered on Disney XD last October.
