Square RPG King's Knight Gets Smartphone Remake, Appears in Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix announced at Tokyo Game Show 2016 on Sunday that it will release a new iOS and Android game titled King's Knight - Wrath of the Dark Dragon - this year. The main characters of the upcoming Final Fantasy XV game will play the smartphone RPG in their downtime.

Square Enix streamed an announcement trailer showing both the smartphone game and a clip of the Final Fantasy XV characters playing it. The trailer is available in both English and Japanese.

King's Knight - Wrath of the Dark Dragon - is based on Square's 1986 RPG King's Knight for NES. The new smartphone game will add new characters and multiplayer for up to four players. Preregistration for the game is available through the game's website.

Square Enix also announced at the event that the Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV anime will get a television broadcast in Japan beginning on October 1 at 12:00 a.m. on Tokyo MX, GTV, Tochigi TV, and BS11.

Final Fantasy XV is slated for release on November 29 after a delay. Square Enix will also release Justice Monsters V, the pinball game the Final Fantasy XV characters play, as an iOS and Android app on August 30. The smartphone game also has a planned Windows 10 release later this year.
