Megumi Hayashibara to narrate series of 5-minute anime shorts

The official website of the ILCA anime studio's Sengoku Chōjū Giga (Sengoku Wildlife Caricatures) television anime revealed additional cast, staff, and the anime's October 8 premiere on September 13. Additionally, the site announced on Wednesday that voice actress Megumi Hayashibara will narrate the series. The anime's full title is now Sengoku Chōjū Giga: Kō.

The other new cast members include: Taiga Fukazawa (live-action Yowamushi Pedal), Hiromu Mineta (Orange), Aoi Imagawa (from idol group Musumen), Kōki Osamura (live-action Assassination Classroom), NaŌki Takahashi (Shōri no Megami), and Takayasu Ōya (reporter on TVK's Neko no Hitai Hodo Wide).

Previously announced cast members include kabuki actor Hashinosuke Nakamura as Oda Nobunaga, Ryota Murai as Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Masanari Wada as Tokugawa Ieyasu. Additional cast includes Yūki Torigoe, Shin Nagahama, Masashi Mikami, and Tomoya Ishii.

The anime will air on October 9 on KBC TV 1:42 a.m., and will also air on TVK, TV Saitama, Chiba TV, and Sun TV. In addition, the anime will also stream on Abema TV, dAnime Store, Rakuten ShowTime, Video Market, Bandai Channel, Niconico, Flat Dōga, GyaO!, and U-NEXT. Each episode will be five minutes long.

The site has also revealed more staff members, including Ryōichi Tsuchiya (Urero Mikakunin Shōjo) alongside Hiromu Kumamoto (Kagewani, Kawabon, Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories) as a scriptwriter. Yurisa Ueda is credited for animation. Kensaku Sakai (5LDK, Yorutamori) is credited as the "brain." Takashi Sumida (Sengoku Nabe TV, Bakarhythm The Movie, Jitsuzai-Sei Million Arthur) is directing the series at ILCA. Japanese artist Nielsen is handling the key animation.

The anime will use a sumi-e (traditional Japanese ink painting) motif, and will feature Japan's famous Sengoku-era warlords as animals. The anime will depict the characters in historically important events as well as in casual everyday situations.
