Empire of Corpses and Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun Released Monday

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Also, second volumes of Akame ga KILL! and Assassination Classroom

On Monday September 26, Anime Limited will release the feature film Empire of Corpses on DVD, and as a Blu-ray/DVD Steelbook Edition. The film adapts the zombie steampunk novel of the same name by the acclaimed late author Project Itoh.

Funimation has described the story:

From the studio that produced Attack on Titan comes a captivating historical action thriller based on an award-winning novel by Project Itoh. In an alternate version of 19th century London, the world has been revolutionized by “corpse reanimation technology” creating armies of undead who serve the living as laborers across the globe.

In an attempt to revive his dearly departed friend, young medical student John Watson becomes obsessed with replicating the work of Dr. Victor Frankenstein—the legendary corpse engineer whose research produced the only re-animated corpse to possess a soul. But when his illegal experiments put him at odds with the British government, Watson is drafted into a worldwide race to find the lost research notes of Victor Frankenstein before the secrets of the human soul fall into the wrong hands.

MVM will release a Blu-ray/DVD Collector's Edition of Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, which also includes the series soundtrack. Sentai Filmworks has previously described the story:

Love is the spirit that motivates an artist's journey. Or, rather, it can and should be. Of course, for mangaka artist Nozaki… he's clueless when it comes to those special feelings of love coming from his own classmate. It's the age-old tale: the girl's into a guy that barely knows they exist. And it's no different for Sakura. While all she can think about is him, all he cares about is the publication deadline looming over his head. Unfortunately, this all came about because Sakura didn't share her true feelings with Nozaki. This all leads to a huge misunderstanding – and, as a result, Sakura becoming his assistant. Little did she know, but she now works for one of her favorite mangakas. Only she's a he! And that's the strange part; Nozaki is the creator of the popular shojo manga, Let's Have a Romance!, under the alias of Yumeno Sakiko. So, how could such a stubborn numbskull such as Nozaki be so in touch with a girl's wants and needs to create such inspiring stories that Sakura loves? And will she spoil their working relationship to finally admit how she really feels about him?

Animatsu will release the second volume of Akame ga KILL! as a DVD, a Blu-ray and also a Deluxe Collector's Edition Blu-ray (pictured). It contains episodes 13 to 24 of the series. The Deluxe Edition also includes a Hard Cover Booklet.

Anime Limited will also release the second half of Assassination Classroom on Bu-ray and DVD, carrying parts 12 to 22 of the series.
