posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime premieres on October 8, 11:00 p.m. (JKT/BKK), 12:00 a.m. (SIN), same time as Japan

Southeast Asian channel Aniplus HD announced on Tuesday that it will air a simulcast of Occultic;Nine, the television anime adaptation Chiyomaru Shikura's light novel series of the same name. The anime will premiere on the channel on October 8 at 11:00 p.m. in Jakarta and Bangkok, and at 12:00 a.m. in Singapore, at the same time as its Japanese premiere.

Occultic;Nine is the first light novel series by MAGES. head Chiyomaru Shikura (Steins;Gate). The "paranormal science" story follows nine idiosyncratic individuals, linked by the "Chōjō Kagaku Kirikiri Basara" occult summary blog run by 17-year-old second-year high school student Yūta Gamon. Little incongruities that occur around these nine eventually lead to a larger, unimaginable event that may alter what is considered common sense in this world.

The anime's voice cast members, who are reprising their respective roles from the game version, include:

Yuuki Kaji as Yūta Gamon, a high school boy who runs an occult blog and a self-proclaimed savior

Ayane Sakura as Ryoka Narusawa, a spirit guide

Kaito Ishikawa as Sarai Hashigami, a denialist, ultra-realist first-year university student

Hitomi Yoshida as Miyū Aikawa, a moe fortune teller and first-year high school student

Shizuka Itou as Tōko Sumikaze, a reporter for the occult magazine Mumū (a nod to the real magazine ), with a life outside occult interests

Miyuki Sawashiro as Aria Kurenaino, a black magic proxy

Kishō Taniyama as Kiryū Kusakabe, a mysterious man

Mamiko Noto as Ririka Nishizono, a future-predicting dōjin manga creator

Tetsuya Kakihara as Shun Moritsuka, a cosplay otaku detective

Satomi Akesaka as Asuna Kizaki, a high school girl/FBI investigator

Kenjiro Tsuda as Kōhei Izumi, who runs Cafe Blue Moon which Gamon and the others frequent

Maria Naganawa as Chizu Kawabata, Miyuu's close friend

Kyōhei Ishiguro (Lance N' Masques) is directing the anime with assistant director Miyuki Kuroki at A-1 Pictures, and MAGES. and To-Jumpei Morita (Nobunaga Concerto episode director) are credited with supervising the series scripts. Tomoaki Takase is adapting pako's original character designs from the novel series for animation, and Kouta Michishita is designing the props.

Yoshinori Shiozawa is credited with the art design, and Hisayo Usui is the art director. Kazuko Nakashima is the color key artist. Yoshihiro Sekiya is the director of photography, and Ryūta Ono is directing the 3D animation. Akinori Mishima is editing. Jin Aketagawa is directing the sound, and Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music.

Kanako Itou (5pb. Records) is performing the opening theme song "Seisū 3 no Nijō," and Asaka (5pb. Records) is performing the ending theme song Open your eyes." Shikura wrote the music and lyrics for both songs, and the CD singles for both songs will go on sale on October 26.

Shikura began the novel series with illustrations by Pako (Rental Magica, Un-Go) in August 2014, and the Overlap Bunko imprint published the second volume in May 2015.

While Shikura created Occultic;Nine, he emphasized in 2012 that it is not the fourth science-adventure title from 5pb. He did note that the novel can be considered the fourth Chiyomaru Shikura title after Chaos;HEAd, Steins;Gate, and Robotics;Notes. (Shikura eventually announced the fourth science-adventure title, CHAOS;CHILD, in 2013.)

The novel series already inspired a game adaptation and a manga series that Ganjii (Code Geass: Tales of an Alternate Shogunate) is serializing in Kodansha's good! Afternoon magazine.
