The 52nd issue of Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko Magazine (pictured at right) launched a four-panel spinoff manga of Gakuto Mikumo's Strike the Blood novel series on Saturday. Ryuryū Akari is illustrating the manga, titled Strike the Blood: Kochira Saikai Gakuen Chūtō-bu (Strike the Blood: This Is Saikai Academy's Junior High Division).

The issue's cover also features art from the second Strike the Blood video anime series. One of the magazine's bundled bonus items is a Yukina Himeragi smartphone stand.

Akari made his debut outside the dōjin world with the Lucky Star: Pocket Travelers spinoff manga in 2007. He illustrated the Shin Koihime Musō: Otome Ryōran Sangokushi Engi manga and Accel World manga spinoff.

Mikumo's Strike the Blood light novels debuted in 2011 with Manyako's illustrations. TATE has been serializing a manga adaptation in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine since 2012. The manga's ninth volume shipped on September 27. Yen Press is publishing the light novel series in North America. It published the fourth volume on September 27.

The novel series inspired a 24-episode television anime series in 2013, as well as an earlier two-episode OVA project last November and December. The Strike the Blood II video anime series will release its first volume for DVD and Blu-ray Disc release on November 23. Crunchyroll streamed the television anime series as it aired in Japan. Discotek licensed the television anime for North American home video.
