posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The official Twitter account for Studio 4°C posted on Monday that anime art director and background artist Tōru Hishiyama passed away on October 15.
The Twitter post added, "Hishiyama was with our company for a long time, and drew wonderful background art for us for many of our works. [Hishiyama] was always telling jokes, and we thought [Hishiyama] would return to us in good health. We are deeply saddened, and pray from the bottom of our hearts for [Hishiyama's] happiness in the next world."
Hishiyama served as the art director for the Mind Game anime film, and also worked on the art design for the Berserk anime film trilogy at Studio 4°C. Additionally, Hishiyama worked as a background artist on Grave of the Fireflies, A Wind Named Amnesia, Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, Little Nemo - Adventures in Slumberland, and Princess Arete, and served as art director on Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind, PES: Peace Eco Smile, and Mobile Suit SD Gundam Festival. Hishiyama also worked on the art for Vexille - 2077 Isolation of Japan.
