Toei announced on Wednesday that the Precure franchise will have its first 3D holographic event starting on December 23. The event is titled "Minna Atsumare! The event will feature 44 Precure characters (including the ones from the latest television anime Maho Girls Precure!), and will have an original story.
The 3D holographic event does not require the use of specialized glasses or head-mounted devices. The event will run from December 23 to January 29 (with a break from December 31 to January 3), and will have seven shows each day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Toei previously ran a similar event for the One Piece franchise titled Mugiwara no Ichizoku vs Kaigun vs Ōka Shichi Bukai Holographic Battle Theater" (Straw Hats vs. Navy vs Seven Warlords of the Sea Holographic Battle Theater) in Tokyo's Odaiba area in 2014. The show will receive will run an encore performance at the same DMM VR Theater in Yokohama from November 12 to December 11.
The theater uses the same translucent "Pepper's ghost" screens that are used in concerts by Hatsune Miku and other virtual Vocaloid idols. However, it uses multiple screens to add depth to its performances. Notably, it has been holding virtual concerts with the late X Japan member hide.
