posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
This year's 23rd issue of Shueisha's Margaret magazine revealed on Saturday that Maika Yamamoto (live-action Assassination Classroom's Kaede) has been cast in the live-action film adaptation of Mika Yamamori's Hirunaka no Ryūsei (Daytime Shooting Star) manga in the role of Yuyuka Nekota. Nekota is a very blunt girl who is considerate to her friends, and tries to get closer to Daiki.
The rest of the cast includes:

From left to right:
- Shōhei Miura (live-action Gokusen) as Satsuki Shishio, the homeroom teacher Suzume falls in love with.
- Mei Nagano (live-action My Love Story!!) as Suzume Yosano, the whimsical protagonist born and raised in the countryside.
- Alan Shirahama (from GENERATIONS FROM EXILE TRIBE) as Daiki Mamura, Suzume's classmate who slowly falls in love with her, even though he knows how she feels about Satsuki.
The film will open in Japan on March 24. Takehiko Shinjō (live-action Your Lie in April, Paradise Kiss, Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu) is directing the film, and Naoko Adachi (live-action Shitsuren Chocolatier) is writing the script.
The manga centers on Suzume Yosano, a high school girl who moves from the countryside to Tokyo. On her first day in Tokyo, she gets lost, and a man helps her. That man turns out to be her new homeroom teacher named Satsuki Shishio. Suzume gradually comes to like Satsuki. Sitting next to Suzume in her class is Daiki Mamura, who hates women. Daiki and Suzume soon become friends.
Yamamori launched the manga in 2011 and ended the series in 2014. The manga's 12 main volumes and one spinoff volume have 1.93 million copies in print, and the paid digital version has 500,000 downloads.
