Band performed "One day" opening theme for One Piece in 2010

The Ikebukuro station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested 34-year-old former singer Shin Nohata on Wednesday on charges of theft for allegedly stealing his friend's guitars. In his affidavit, Nohata admitted that he had pawned off the guitars to get money for gambling on horse racing.

Nohata was the vocalist of The Rootless rock band before the band disbanded last December. The Rootless is best known for performing the song "One day," which became the opening song for the One Piece anime in 2010. The song's single was the band's major debut. At the time of his arrest, Nohata had been working as a construction worker.

According to police, Nohata stole two guitars (valued at 200,000 yen or about US$1,833 total) from his friend and roommate in Tokyo's Toshima ward between May 17 to 27.
