Anime of game app begins streaming 12:30 p.m. EST on Sunday

Media distribution company Crunchyroll announced on Sunday that it will begin streaming the Hagane Orchestra (Steel Orchestra) anime at 12:30 p.m. EST on Sunday. All users outside Asia can watch the first six episodes this week, while Premium Members can watch episode 7 this week also.

The anime adapts Hanbit Ubiquitous Entertainment's smartphone game app of the same name. The game is a real-time strategy battle role-playing game that takes place in a ruined world where battles are fought in customizable steel vehicles.

Crunchyroll describes the story:

The people of this world live happily, despite its inhospitable landscapes. Kureha and the other members of the Defense Squad living in the Irodori Settlement spend their days here in meetings to figure out how to get more people to play "Hagane Orchestra," the smartphone game they appear in. They'll do anything to promote their game! The inside story about the game? Its inner workings? Anything goes... be it friendship, determination, betrayal, or despair.

A young man tells his story, along with the girls, his friends, and the Haganes. All work together as one, just like an orchestra...

The anime premiered in Japan on October 9, and it will have 12 five-minute episodes.

The game and anime stars:

Masahiko Ohta (Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily, Mitsudomoe, Rozen Maiden) is directing the anime series at Fanworks (Ganbare! Lulu Lolo - Tiny Twin Bears, Honobono Log). Takashi Aoshima (If Her Flag Breaks, Himouto! Umaruchan) is both writing and overseeing the scrips, Takashi Konno (animator for Steel Angel Kurumi 2, s-CRY-ed) designed the characters, and Takaharu Ōkuma (Magician's Academy, Mitsudomoe) is adapting those character designs for animation and is serving as chief animation director. Hiroshi Katō (Evangelion TV series and remake films) is the art director, and Yasuhiro Misawa (Minami-ke franchise, Kokoro Connect) is composing the music.
