Yowamushi Pedal Season 3's 2nd Video Introduces New Captains, New Song, New Hakone Ace

The official website for the Yowamushi Pedal anime posted the second promotional video for Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation, the third anime season based on Wataru Watanabe's original manga, on Thursday. The video begins with Kinjō appointing Teshima as Sōhoku High's new captain, and then introduces Sōhoku's rivals at Hakone Gakuen (Hakone Academy or "HakoGaku"), including their new captain Tōichirō Izumida and ace Takuto Ashikiba.
The video features the new opening theme song "Cadence" by Takaaki Natsushiro. It also features Ashikiba's signature technique of "Metronome Dancing." Ashikiba is a second-year Hakone all-around player who is regarded as his team's next-generation ace.

The website revealed designs for the new characters Issa Kaburagi and Ryūhō Danchiku, two students who begin attending Sōhoku High School in the third season, but their cast members have not yet been announced.
The main cast for Hakone Academy's team members includes:
Miyano already played a different character, the ace Shin Yoshimoto of Kumamoto Daiichi High School, in the first Yowamushi Pedal movie last year.
The series will premiere at night on Monday, January 9 at 1:35 a.m. (effectively Tuesday morning) on TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, and TV Hokkaido. The show will also air on TV Osaka, TV Setouchi, TVQ Kyushu, NBC Nagasaki, and AT-X.
Osamu Nabeshima is returning to direct the series and Kurasumi Sunayama (Bakuon!!), who worked on scripts for the first two seasons, is taking over series composition. Yukiko Ban (Yowamushi Pedal movie) is designing the characters and Hiroyuki Horiuchi is designing the bikes. Kan Sawada is returning to compose the music. TMS Entertainment is again producing the animation.
Singer-songwriter Saeki YouthK (Yūsuke Saeki) is performing the ending theme song "Now or Never." The two singles for the theme songs will each ship on February 15.
The story of the original Yowamushi Pedal manga centers around Sakamichi Onoda, an otaku at Sōhoku High School. He loves anime and games so much, that he would ride his commuter bicycle to and from Tokyo's Akihabara shopping district in a 90-kilometer (about 60-mile) round trip over steep slopes after school. Onoda's life changes when he encounters his school's cycling team, and he ends up joining the competitive sport of bicycle racing.
The story of the third season is set after the previous two seasons and the August 2015 film, and after the previous third-year students have graduated.
