Fuji TV also premieres TV anime of Mengo Yokoyari manga in January

Fuji TV opened a website on Thursday to announce a live-action television series of Mengo Yokoyari's Scum's Wish (Kuzu no Honkai) manga. The series will premiere on Fuji TV on January 18 at 25:55 (effectively January 19 at 1:55 a.m.), although the first episode will premiere on Fuji TV On Demand before the broadcast premiere. The main cast includes Miyu Yoshimoto (right in picture below) as Hanabi Yasuraoka, and Dōri Sakurada (left) as Mugi Awaya.

Other cast members include Kōki Mizuta as Narumi Kanai, Sarii Ikegami as Sanae Ebato, and Rina Aizawa as Akane Minagawa.

Shōgo Miyaki and Shunsuke Shinada are directing the live-action series, with scripts by Ere Hagiwara and Motoko Takahashi. Yui Kouchi is composing the music.

Crunchyroll is publishing the manga digitally in English, and Yen Press is publishing the series in print in North America. Crunchyroll describes the story:

Hanabi and Mugi are bathed in envious gazers from all around as a beautiful couple with excellent moral conduct. But these two apparently perfect people in an apparently perfect relationship share a secret they can't tell anyone.

A television anime adaptation of the manga will also air on Fuji TV's Noitamina block, and it will premiere on January 12. Masaomi Andō (School-Live!, Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle) is directing the series and Makoto Uezu (KONOSUBA, Akame ga KILL!, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) is handling series composition and is also writing the scripts at Studio Lerche (Monster Musume, School-Live!).

Yokoyari launched the manga in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine in 2012, and Square Enix will publish the seventh volume on December 24. Yen Press published the manga's first volume on October 25.
