Ufotable's Touken Ranbu TV Anime Reveals 2nd Video, July Premiere, Title

The official website for ufotable's television anime of the Touken Ranbu -Online- game opened on Thursday, and it presented the anime's second promotional video, first key visual, two staff members, July 2017 premiere window, and finalized title: Katsugeki! Tōken Ranbu (Action Picture! Touken Ranbu). (Note: The video on the official website is region-locked to Japan.)
Toshiyuki Shirai (Fate/Zero, Tales of Zestiria the X animation director) is directing the series at ufotable. Hideyuki Fukasawa (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Flowers of Evil) is composing the music.

DMM's Touken Ranbu "sword personification training game" takes famous swords from Japanese history and interprets them as bishōnen. Nitroplus designed the characters and scenario. The game launched in Japan last year, and it has more than 1.5 million registered users. The game has acquired a large female fanbase and inspired a wide range of merchandise, as well as several manga and stage productions.
Takashi Naoya (Luck & Logic co-director, Selector Infected Wixoss animation director) directed a separate television anime titled Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru at Doga Kobo. Doga Kobo's Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru premiered on TOKYO MX on October 2. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan and Funimation is streaming an English dub.
